  在钢结构建筑中,存在两大问题:钢的腐蚀和火灾时钢构件的软化。在自然气候下,钢材受蚀减薄5年可达0.1-1mm以上,时间长或在特殊及人为的恶劣环境下,减薄更为严重。采用涂装可以减缓腐蚀,但费用较高。如桥梁涂装费10年内可为钢结构费用的2.5倍。钢材的防腐蚀处理成本高,且不易维护,这给钢结构的推广应用带来了一定的制约。
  当钢的温度达到350摄氏度及其以上时,钢的屈服强度下降至规定的室温屈服强度的2/3或更低,低于钢结构要求的屈服强度,为使钢构件的温度在火灾期间不超过350摄氏度,钢构件必须喷涂防火材料。但是喷涂防火材料的作业对工人的健康有着极大的损害且非常费时,此外,建筑的有效空间也因防火包覆而减少。因此,钢结构对减少防火包覆的要求越来越强烈。
  国内钢厂武钢开发建筑用耐火耐候钢09CuPCrNi-A的目的就是增加钢的高温强度和耐大气腐蚀性。同时,武钢耐火耐候钢具有与普通建筑用钢相当的室温力学性能、焊接性能以及其它性能。武钢研制成功的耐火耐候性与美国的高耐候COR-TEN钢相当,为普通钢的3-8倍,在一般气候条件下可裸露使用。可提高涂装性,涂在耐候钢上的涂层的失效年限远长于普通钢。耐火性与日本的建筑用耐火钢相当,可使600摄氏度时屈服强度下降不大于规定的室温屈服强度标准的1/3,这是火灾时保证建筑安全性的一个必要的许用指标,而普通钢至多在350摄氏度时保持这一强度值。由此可以减少防火涂料和防火包覆的使用,从而减少污染、缩短工期、增加建筑有效面积、降低成本且减少或不必进行防腐维护,是一种具有“绿色环保”、可持续发展的经济类钢材。
  耐火耐候钢可广泛用于各类高层建筑、超高层建筑、大跨度建筑和轻钢轻板建筑工程,特别是耐火耐候要求高、条件比较苛刻的建筑工程。它集高耐火性、高耐候性和能承受大线能量焊接于一体,在600℃高温下仍能确保高屈服强度,不折不弯,因而可以大大提高建筑物的防火安全性和稳固性。由于它自身具有良好的耐火性能,因而又可大大减薄建筑物防火层的厚度,大量节省建造费用。
  耐候钢,其特征在于:该耐候钢的合金成份及重量百分比含量为:C≤0.12、Si:0.25~0.75、Mn:0.20~0.50、P:0.07~0.15、S≤0.03、Cu:0.25~0.55、Cr:0.30~1.25、Ni≤0.65,其余为Fe和微量杂质。主要用于铁道、车辆、桥梁、塔架等长期暴露在大气中使用的钢结构。通过Cu、Cr、Ni等合金化,并简单调整普通低碳钢(Q235钢)的部分元素含量,在不需改变Q235钢生产工艺条件下,就能生产出具有良好的耐大气腐蚀性能、综合机械性能的经济耐候钢。
