X80 is an American classified model of high strength pipeline steel. The minimum yield value (MPa) is 551. This concept belongs to the concept of material mechanics category. C, Mn, Si type common carbon steel has been used in the early pipeline steel, and its properties are emphasized in metallurgy, and there is no strict regulation on the chemical composition. This kind of steel is to break the traditional concept of steel, carbon content of 0.1-0.14%, Nb, V, Ti and other alloy elements added less than 0.2% in the steel, and the mechanical properties of the steel rolling technology has been greatly improved. In 1973 and 1985, API standard increased X70 and X80 steel successively, and then developed X100 pipeline steel. The carbon content decreased to 0.01-0.04%, and the carbon equivalent reduced to less than 0.35.
