B-2 Hastelloy alloy has the following characteristics:
1 control of iron and chromium elements in the lowest content, to prevent the formation of beta phase Ni4Mo.
2 excellent corrosion resistance of the reduction environment.
3 excellent resistance to moderate concentrations of sulfuric acid and a number of non oxidizing acids.
4 very good resistance to chloride ion reduction stress corrosion cracking (SCC).
5 excellent resistance to all kinds of organic acid corrosion.
Metallographic structure of B-2 Hastelloy:
B-2 Hastelloy is a face centered cubic lattice structure. By controlling the content of Fe and Cr in the minimum value, the brittleness is reduced, and the precipitation of Ni4Mo phase in 700-870.
Corrosion resistance of B-2 Hastelloy:
The carbon and silicon content of Ni Mo alloy B-2 Hastelloy is very low, which reduces the precipitation of carbon and other impurity phases in the weld heat affected zone. Alloy B-2 Hastelloy has good corrosion resistance in reducing medium, such as a variety of temperature and concentration of hydrochloric acid solution. In the medium concentration of sulfuric acid solution (or contains a certain amount of chloride ion) also has a good corrosion resistance. At the same time, it can also be used in acetic acid and phosphoric acid environment. Alloy material has the best corrosion resistance only in the proper metallographic state and pure crystal structure.
