In 2006, Wugang developed and manufactured 4776 tons 130mm thick SA516Gr70N steel plate for Sichuan Puguang natural gas field, which replaced imported products and strongly promoted the process of localization of steel plate for petrochemical equipment. Heat Treatment of SA516Gr70
1. SA515Gr60, SA515Gr70, SA516Gr70, SA516Gr60N, SA516Gr70N thickness less than 1.5in, (40mm) steel plate is usually supplied in rolling state. Steel plate can also be ordered according to normalizing or stress relief, or normalizing plus stress relief.
2. Thickness > 1.5 in. (40mm) steel plate should be normalized.
3. Unless otherwise specified by the demander, steel plates with thickness less than 1.5 in, (40 mm) shall be normalized when notch toughness is required.
4. If approved by the demander, cooling rate greater than that in air is allowed to improve toughness, but the steel plate only needs to be tempered subsequently in the range of 1100-1300 degrees F (595-705 degrees C).
