Traditionally, refrigeration pipes for air-conditioning products are all copper tubes. But copper has been a global shortage of resources, the price of copper has soared, has affected the development of air-conditioning industry. But our country's aluminum resources are quite abundant, the aluminum industry is also quite developed. Therefore, the use of aluminum instead of copper has become a trend in the air conditioning and refrigeration pipelines.
The key technique of substituting copper for aluminium is the butt welding of copper aluminum tubes. To this end, in the domestic welding industry quite well-known Hai Qing machinery factory in Qingdao, Ocean University of China, together with the formation of the research team, took the initiative to undertake the task of tackling key issues of this technology.
The thin wall copper aluminum welding is called the world difficult problem, has its objective factor. The melting point of copper is 1083 degrees Celsius, the melting point of aluminum is 660 degrees Celsius, which is more than 400 degrees Celsius melting point, is the result of the formation of aluminum, copper may be weak. It is more difficult, will naturally produce aluminum oxide film on the surface, the refrigeration pipeline cleanliness requirements, clearing method of additive with this film is not clear, it is difficult to use physical methods, the oxide film layer and the melting point of 2000 degrees Celsius, the three different melting point, resulting in copper and aluminum welding not even easy to form weld welding. In the past, using some special welding methods, such as explosive welding, diffusion welding, welding, friction welding method, by applying the auxiliary welding, welding can also be achieved, but these methods can only be completed or more than 1 mm of copper aluminum welding, or because of the high cost and complicated process, not suitable for industrialized production. Some countries try to use copper aluminum eutectic structure to form weld seams to realize the welding of thin-walled copper and aluminum. And extensive research has been carried out for this purpose, but no industrial application has been achieved. The pipe wall of the air conditioning refrigeration pipeline is very thin, and only when a new welding method is invented to form the industrialized welding production of the thin-wall copper aluminum tube can the goal of substituting aluminum for copper on the air conditioning refrigeration pipeline can be realized.
At the beginning we follow the copper eutectic structure of weld experiments, results show that the tube wall is too thin, the eutectic structure is very fragile, therefore, the weld quality is very poor, or even hand tear tear down. So we start looking for new ideas.
New ideas stem from extensive experimentation and analysis
The research group used welding method is usually used in resistance welding, they began to try to increase the pressure parameters of the experiment, some pipeline welded together can be torn down, and some not tear down, they found, through analysis, that can tear, formation of eutectic, and tear down it found no eutectic.
Find out the reason, the research group began the research of eutectic welding method, after one and a half years, tens of thousands of times after repeated experiments, various factors of their pressure parameters, electrical parameters, size and material composition deviation are clear in mind, finally invented a new welding success method: resistance pressure welding method, the welding process can be achieved without copper eutectic, copper and aluminum atoms combined in weld in welding, weld is strong after tensile, bending, flattening and other mechanical tests, did not appear any gap. Thus, in this welding method as the core technology of "air conditioning copper aluminum pipe" project won the national invention patent, and by the Ministry of science and technology, Ministry of Commerce and the State Administration of quality inspection and the State Environmental Protection Administration of four ministries jointly identified as national key new products. At present, this project is applying for an international invention patent
