He spent two years and eight months successfully developing China's first hydrogen bomb, shorter than the United States, the Soviet Union, Britain and France; he spent 28 years in anonymity, silently casting a nuclear shield for China to maintain peace, indifferent to fame and wealth.
At the Congress to celebrate the 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up held in 2018, the Central Committee of the Party and the State Council decided to award 100 comrades such as Yu Min the title of pioneer of reform and the Medal of Pioneer of reform.

So far, only three of China's 23 - ldquo, two - hit and one - Star meritorious Medal - rdquo have survived.
28 years of anonymity fills in the blank of nuclear theory in China, realizes the breakthrough and weaponization of hydrogen bombs - mdash; & mdash; Yu Min, a famous nuclear physicist in China, has made pioneering contributions to the enhancement of independent innovation ability of science and technology and the enhancement of national defense strength.
In 1926, Yu Min was born in a small staff family in Tianjin. He loved to ask why when he was young. After entering Peking University, he ranked first. Teacher Zhang Zongsui said: I have never seen physics as good as Yu Min.
Two years after the founding of New China, Yu Min began his research career in the Institute of Modern Physics, headed by Qian Sanqiang, a famous physicist. He and his collaborators have proposed a model of coherent structure of atomic nuclei, which fills in the blank of our country's nuclear theory. In 1961, Qian Sanqiang asked Yu Min to talk to him and entrusted him with the task of exploring the hydrogen bomb theory.
Yu Min did not hesitate to submit to distribution and change careers. Since then, he has been living in anonymity for 28 years. Even his wife said, "I didn't expect him to do such high-level secret work."
In order to develop China's own hydrogen bomb as soon as possible, Yu Min forgot to eat and sleep. It's unforgettable. More than 100 days and nights, Yu Minxian buried himself in the mountains of computer tape, and then made intensive reports. He led us to discover the key to self-sustaining thermonuclear combustion of hydrogen bombs, found the technical path to break through the hydrogen bomb, and formed a complete physical design scheme of hydrogen bombs from principle, material to configuration.
Under his organization and deployment, the theory of hydrogen bomb has been broken through. On June 17, 1967, in the hinterland of the Lop Nur Desert, a mushroom cloud rose, and China's hydrogen bomb test was successful. From the explosion of the first atomic bomb to the successful test of the first hydrogen bomb, it took more than seven years for the United States, four years for the Soviet Union and two years and eight months for China.
Since the 1980s, Yu Min led the team to break through the key technologies in the development of the second generation nuclear weapons, which has brought the development of nuclear weapons technology to a new level in China.
Two bombs and one star & rdquo; Medal of Merit, National Supreme Science and Technology Award & hellip; & hellip; Extremely high honors come and go, and Yu Min remains humble as ever. He declined the title of “ father of the hydrogen bomb ”. A word hanging high in the living room: & ldquo; indifference to ambition, tranquility to far-reaching & rdquo;.
A person's name, sooner or later, will not have, can put the slight strength into the strength of the motherland, it is enough to masturbate. 'rdquo'; Yu Min said.
