According to a notice on the website of Shenmu Municipal Government of Shaanxi Province, a burning accident occurred in 2 # calcium carbide furnace of Shenmu Hengyuan Investment Group Electrochemical Co., Ltd. at about 1:10 a.m. on May 2, resulting in burns of 20 people in varying degrees.
After the accident, Shenmu City started the emergency plan in time, set up five working groups, such as medical treatment and accident investigation, to carry out the rescue of the wounded and accident investigation.
At present, all the wounded were sent to the hospital for treatment. Two of them died of ineffective rescue, and the remaining 18 were under treatment.
