Recently, the State Administration for Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education officially announced a list of 25 local universities and colleges in China, which is the third time since 2016 and 2017 that local universities have been approved by the National 111 Program.
The budget for each 111 project exceeds 9 million yuan.
(abbreviated as “ 111 plan ”) aims to promote the process of building China's universities into a world-class university. The project has been jointly implemented by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the State Bureau of Foreign Experts of the People's Republic of China since 2006.
Aiming at the frontier of international disciplines, and based on national key disciplines, more than 1000 outstanding talents have been introduced and gathered from the superior disciplines of the world's top 100 universities and research institutes to form a high-level research team and build about 100 world-class bases for disciplines innovation and intelligence introduction. Each & ldquo; 111 plan & rdquo; the construction cycle of the base is five years, and the annual support funds are not less than 1.8 million yuan.
The original selection scope of the project is Ministry of Education, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, National People's Committee, State Council Office of Overseas Chinese, Chinese Academy of Sciences and other affiliated & ldquo; 211 projects & rdquo; and & ldquo; 985 projects & rdquo; central universities, in 2016 for the first time open to local colleges and universities, a total of 15 local colleges and universities were selected in 2017, a total of 21 local colleges and Universities Selected for the 111 plan.
In 2018, a total of 25 local universities were selected for the 111 plan.
This year is the 111 national plan to open to local universities for the third time, and 25 local schools have been approved. From the list of selected universities, this year's selected universities are basically strong provincial key universities, including 2 first-class universities, 9 first-class disciplines and 14 other key universities.
Looking from the provinces where the local universities are located, 25 local universities are distributed in 16 provinces, of which Shanghai and Guangdong are the most, each of which has 3 entries, Zhejiang, Sichuan, Liaoning, Jiangsu and Hubei have 2 entries, and Beijing, Tianjin and other provinces have 1 entrance.

Facing the opening of local colleges and universities in China, and the large amount of funds, it is bound to promote the introduction of talents into local colleges and universities, and to a certain extent narrow the gap with 985 universities and other central-affiliated colleges and universities.
